mohun bagan vs . dempo  final:- federation cup 2001 30th august

mohun bagan won the federation cup for the eleventh time in thier soccer history . dempo sports club played very well in both half. the mohun scored thier goal through foreign players José baretto and abduletteef serieki in each half in the jawahar lal nehru stadium in chennai .for the goan side , mario soares played superbly ,his performance was as tall as mountain and his freekicks almost fetched a superb world class. José baretto put kolkattan gaints ahead in the 13th minutewith a first timer following the cross from the right ,defender Vincent lobo gave the Brazilian much space to  put ball in the goal net . after the goal the bagan played at relaxed pace. dempo started attacking and had chance on three ocassion but the bagan goalkeeper bivash ghosh came to the rescue . Debjit ghjosh was played for bagan instead of Hussein mustafi due two yellow card he got in earlier match . dempo's coelho and Clifford Miranda explioted the bagan defence due to lack of understanding between them. the goans had six oppoortunites after conceding the first goal ,this shows how the bagan defender were  under pressure . the best was the long curling kick from mario soares which narrowly missed the goal . in the 79th minute , abduleteef serieki scored a classic goal.
